Education Foundation offers the following scholarships to support the education needs of public school students.
The Opportunity Scholarships program is an important element of Education Foundation's ambition to enable all young people in Australia to become successful learners, active citizens and confident young people who will shape the future
Opportunity Scholarships
Opportunity Scholarships are awarded to talented, students on Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY or Pensioner Education Supplement (PES) to enable them to pursue their dreams. Students must have permanent residency in Australia.
Their area of talent may be wide ranging from the arts, humanities, science, maths or sport. Opportunity Scholarships, up to $1,000, are awarded to students enrolled in a Government primary or secondary school for school approved, curriculum related programs for individual students who lack financial and practical resources.
Housing Week Scholarships
Housing Week scholarships are available for students who are living in public or community-managed housing, or at risk of homelessness and attending a Victorian Government school or a Victorian TAFE Institute. Students must have permanent residency in Australia.
The Department of Human Services awarded 71 Housing Week scholarships worth $1,000 in 2008. These applicants will now be better resourced to complete their Year 11/12 schooling in 2009.
The scholarships will be spent on any item that broadly assists educational achievement and school retention (e.g. books, computer equipment, other specialist equipment, disability aids, transport or child care).
Housing Week Scholarships 2009 for 2010 will be updated by end of February 2009.
City Learning Scholarships
The City Learning Scholarships are available to students attending the City Centre Core program. Scholarships are offered to individual students to subsidise the cost of participation in the programs.
These scholarships are provided by philanthropic individuals and organisations to provide educational opportunities to those students who may not otherwise be able to attend. Students must have permanent residency in Australia.
The scholarships are not guaranteed and are dependent on the number of applications drawn from the scholarship funds. Applications will be accepted by schools booked into the City Centre Core program.
These applications are to be made 8 weeks before the school attends the City Centre.
