    Excursions
Each Youth Program, Just for Girls & Just for Guys program runs excursions for youth throughout the school term. A Council bus provides transport.

All excursions are subsidised to keep costs at a minimum.  Participants are supervised by program staff during excursions.  However, due to the nature of certain excursions, staff cannot provide constant supervision.

If your child requires constant supervision then you, the parent/guardian, need to specify this on your young person’s enrolment form as well as verbally informing staff.

It is essential that the excursion permission forms be fully completed by a parent/guardian. If staff do not receive parent/guardian consent, then the young person cannot attend the excursion.
NB: Excursions may change due to weather conditions.

    Permission to leave the program
Parents are required to indicate their permission on the registration form for their child to leave the program before it finishes. If the participant is not allowed to leave the centre until a parent/guardian collects them, please inform the program staff as well as indicate this on the registration form.

Parents will be charged a late fee  if participants are collected after the program finishing time.

    Payment of activities
Youth Services encourages all young people to participate in excursions.  If you are experiencing financial difficulty regarding the payment of excursions, please contact the program leaders.  They can advise you of a variety of payment options.

    Behaviour of young people
Youth Services has behaviour guidelines for young people attending the programs.  All young people are informed of these guidelines and are expected to respect and adhere to them. If the guidelines are breached, this may result in the young person not being allowed to continue participating in the program. Parents/guardians will be notified if this occurs.

    Smoking at program
Young people are strictly not permitted to smoke while participating in Youth Services programs.

    First aid
Program staff are First Aid qualified, and a First Aid kit is always available at program venues.  A mobile kit is taken with staff on all excursions and field trips.

If your child is injured while participating in a program activity,  staff will administer first aid. If your child requires additional first aid, an ambulance will be called and parents/guardians will be contacted.

    Medication
If your child requires medication while at a program, please inform the staff as additional forms will need to be completed. It is preferred that, where possible,  medication be administered by parents/guardians prior to attending the program.

    Late returns
All parents/guardians are notified of approximate return times from programs.  However on some occasions, due to traffic or unforeseeable circumstances, the bus may return late from excursions, during which time, staff and young people will endeavour to notify parents.

    Program cancellation
Youth Services has a policy of providing excursions only when 10 or more participants attend. If there is less than 10 participants, the excursion may be cancelled and an activity will be offered at the centre instead.

Visits from workers in the youth field
Occasionally workers from local youth agencies visit young people attending Youth Programs.

    Workers could include:
    Centrelink Staff
    Youth health nurses
    Youth/family counsellor
    Alcohol & drug workers
    Housing workers
    Mental health workers

The aim of these visits is to introduce local workers to young people so they become familiar and more accessible in times of need.
