Start Program 2008 - Term 3
The START Program with Wyndham City Council, Youth Services
In term 3, 2008 we took part in the START Program run by Wyndham City Council Youth services.
We took part in lots of team activities and had fun. We also got out of school for a whole morning once a week for six weeks, and even had some free time at the Youth Resource Centre to play dodge-ball and Playstation.
We decided to take part in the team work activities at the START Program because we think it is important to have a go at everything.
This attitude made things easier for us. We got the activities done and we felt like we were achieving stuff which was good.
We also got to know other people, and saw their strengths and weaknesses. By getting to know other people we developed trust and that helped us achieve even more in the team work activities.
Some of us thought it was important to learn from our mistakes, so each week we would try and do things differently. This also helped us achieve things we hadn’t achieved before.
We hope that if we keep having a go at everything, and getting to know other people to develop trust, that we can make things easier for ourselves in school and in the sporting activities we take part in.
We also hope that we can keep learning from our mistakes and doing things differently. If we continue to do these things, we hope that other people might see us as being experienced in how to approach challenges.
We also hope that other people will see that we are not scared of taking part in anything.
