Young Achiever of the Year
What is it?
The Mayoral Youth Award is a program operated by Wyndham City that aims to:
- Recognise the diverse range of personal and community achievement of local young people;
- Assist young people to reach their goals;
- Reward young people for their achievements and potential; and
- Show community acknowledgment of the abilities and inherent within young people in the Wyndham community
There are 4 award categories:
- sport
- community service/volunteering/leadership
- music/arts/media/culture
- other
Young people will nominate a category and their application will be considered amongst other applicants of the same category.
The award is given quarterly with the following closing dates for applications: 30 September, 31 December, 31 March and 30 June
Each quarter 3 awards will be given.
The age criteria is 12-25 years.
The Assessment Committee that decides on who receives the award consists of: The Mayor, Youth Task Force representative, Youth Project Officer and Youth Services representative
The aim of the grant is to recognise, promote and reward the positive achievements, and future potential, of young people in Wyndham.
- The grant is $500
- Each year 12 young people will receive the award
- Successful applicants will still be automatically entered into the running for the Young Achiever of the Year Award
