  • Wellbeing & Resilience Program

    This is an eight week program targeting primary school aged children in grades five and or six.

    This program aims to build resilience and assist young people overcoming personal adversities and aiding in the transition from primary to secondary school. 

    The program runs over six consecutive weeks consisting of two hours each session of one per week.  Each session will be co-facilitated by a school staff member and a Youth Development Officer in the classroom of the selected class.

    There is no cost to the school or the students, as this program is funded by Wyndham City Council Youth Services.

    The participating school will be invited to consult with Youth Services to select the issues they would like to be addressed throughout the program.  The consultation process topics will be selected from a number of  program publications, supported by Department of Education and Training.

    Aims
    The program aims to aid in the growth of skills, to combat issues designed to build resilience and help with approaches in overcoming these adversities and aiding with the transition from primary to secondary school.

    Objectives
    To assist and develop copping skills in resilience by engaging the participants throughout the program on issue related to:
    - Low Self Esteem
    - Identification of Feelings
    - Anger Management
    - Communication
    - Choices and Consequences

    Participants will also have a chance to meet with experienced Youth Workers and learn about the programs that Youth Services provide to the local community.
