    Mediation is a process used to help people talk about issues that are causing stress and arguments within the family home. These issues may be things like privacy and trust, curfews, household chores, school work or friends. Mediation is when a family meet with a mediator to talk openly about issues without yelling or arguing with each other.

    Western Metropolitan Region Youth Services
    This directory was compiled by Western Local Community Partnership (WLCP) with the support of Youth Services across the region.
    It is intended that the directory will provide information about the people and services in the Brimbank, Melton, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham area that can help students at risk of exiting school early so that they continue studying at school or connect to further training and employment options.

    Youth Central
    youthcentral is the Victorian State Government's website for young people.

    youthcentral is the first-stop-shop for information about government and community services, organisations, programs and events for young people aged 12 to 25. It also provides a way for young people - wherever they live in Victoria - to have a way of connecting to the information and services provided by the State Government.

    On this site you'll find:
    - details about training and employment programs
    - information about careers and learning opportunities
    - resources and kits on particular issues 
    - people and places to contact if you want to find out more about a particular service

    Reach Out
    Reach Out! is a web-based service that inspires young people to help themselves through tough times.

    The Share Housing Survival Guide
    Great help and information about moving out of home and into shared accommodation. This information applies to people who live in, or are affected by, the law as it applies in NSW, Australia, but a lot of the other information is very useful.

    Somazone
    Somazone focuses on health issues and aims to empower young people to address their physical, emotional and social health needs in a way that is relevant, non-judgmental and anonymous.

    Young people can anonymously find answers to their questions, some of which may be too embarrassing to talk to teachers, parents or friends about. Health-related questions are anonymously submitted to the website by young people. These questions are forwarded to relevant health professionals who have volunteered their time to answer questions. Within a week, the questions and answers are reviewed and published on the website. This process has created a database of more than 2,000 questions and answers on the website that other young people can refer to.

    Families Australia is funded through the Department of Family and Community Services (FaCS), and is the first national non-government peak body specifically concerned with family-related issues.

    Family Separation - A Guide for Teens
    You are not alone. Around 11 000 teenagers experience family separation in Australia each year.  This website is just for you. They recognise separation can be a challenge for teenagers. So they have worked with a range of people to make this site as helpful and useful as possible.

    Health for Kids Network
    The Health for Kids Network is a network of GPs interested in child and/or adolescent health.  The site contains a search that helps you find a youth friendly doctor in your area.

    Offers FREE casework services to Muslim women aged 11-28 years.  100% confidential service & offers newly arrived, refugee young Muslim women with intensive support and coaching to help them deal effectively with problems such as; family conflict, problems at school, legal issues, relationship / marriage issues, racial vilification, health & wellbeing, help with housing & dealing with Centrelink.  Counsellors are available Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

    Has developed a range of diverse community social service programs that provide assistance to vulnerable children and families and to young people who are at risk of homelessness and suicide. Parenting Australia and Sole mates (for single parents) are two of the service programs offered.

    Orygen Youth Health
    By far the most prevalent health issues which young people face are in the area of mental health. We are more likely to develop mental health problems between the ages of 12 and 26 than at any other stage of life. At this age we are also more likely to develop mental health problems than other chronic illnesses.

    The School Focused Youth Service - SFYS
    The School Focused Youth Service is a joint initiative between the Department of Education and Training (DE&T) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) and complements the increase in support provided to schools in response to the recommendations of the Suicide Prevention Taskforce.

    The source provides a wide range of information to help young people make important life decisions, helps them access the Government and have input into Government policy and programs, encourages them to become involved in their community and gives them a forum to voice their opinions.

    Young Carers
    Do you help someone who has an illness, a disability, a mental health issue or a drug or alcohol problem?  Then you might be a young carer and there is help and support available to you.

    Many young carers tell us that caring can be a great thing to do - that they're proud of who they are and what they do and that they've built up a whole swag of useful skills. Sometimes though young carers say that caring can affect how they feel, how much time they get to spend with friends, doing schoolwork or holding down a job, and that often they need some help.
